Lifebelt Positioning
When Renfrew District Council was asked why they had not positioned lifebelts on the new walkway from Erskine to the Erskine Bridge their reply, 16th May 2005, was I should inform the Coastguard or Clydeport.
Next they gave other reasons for not supplying lifebelts;
The location would require very close spacing of lifebelts,
Would require extremely long lengths of rope to reach the middle of the river,
Such equipment would encourage people to swim, (yes, in the river Clyde); in fact it would probably be more appropriate to erect no bathing signs.
So while children play on the steep banks, nothing has been done about their safety.
Should I send the original reply to Glasgow City Council so they can save a fortune on lifebelts but not lives?
